In this series, EA will feature individuals who have spearheaded their organisations' journey toward Work-Life Integration. It is our hope that these stories will inspire others to follow in their footsteps and be the catalyst for Work-Life transformation to benefit both the business and the individual. Organisation by organisation, we can create a better Work-Life climate for Singapore.

Mr Josh Goh, Assistant Director, Corporate Services
The GMP Group

In this issue, we chat with Mr Josh Goh, Assistant Director, Corporate Services, The GMP Group.

"In late 2008, I was appointed the work-life champion in the executive team. This sent a strong message that the management was determined to implement a more cohesive work-life culture," reminisces Mr Goh. One of the first things he did was to get HR, various managers and even rank-and-file employees involved in the rolling out of work-life initiatives so that everyone had a stake in them. His team also had to develop a strategy to boost their work-life programme so HR went to find out more about the industry’s best practices and the available funding that would help expedite the plan. They tweaked their policies and practices so that they could present the most suitable set of work-life practices for all colleagues.

Personally, Mr Goh himself has achieved Work-Life Harmony, confiding, "A limited number of days of annual leave can be quite challenging because I enjoy travelling and photography. My boss has been very accommodating and allows me to take unpaid leave to pursue my interests. Contrary to the belief that one is less committed at work the more leave he takes, I have won accolades and awards for GMP, proving to my boss and gaining his trust that work and life can complement each other."

Founded in 1991, The GMP Group is one of Asia’s leading staffing and human resource consultancies. Since its inception, the group has progressed to become a regional human capital solutions provider across all industries.
