Compressed Work Week and Flexi Hours

More than half of the total workforce is on a compressed work week or using flexi hours. Shift employees work a compressed schedule on two 12-hour shifts; hence they can enjoy two long weekends in a month to spend quality time with their family. Non-shift employees can choose to report for work any time between 7 am to 9 am. Those who start at 7 am can leave as early as 4 pm.

Employee Support Schemes

In-house Gym and Info Café. Merck & Co created a gym in 2007 which is accessible to staff around the clock so that shift employees can use it even at odd hours. During peak periods, there are gym instructors to provide tips and techniques to enhance working on the gym equipment. Utilisation rate is high. The Info café is a hit among employees whose work does not require a desktop computer. They use this kiosk to access Merck intranet and internet and submit claims and leave application online.
