Sabbatical / Career Break Leave refers to a large block of leave taken, which may be fully paid, part-paid or unpaid, e.g. a few months or even a few years (such as when an employee decides to further his studies on a full-time basis). The employee’s return is likely to be considered a continuation of employment, as it is not a resignation.
