As a working mother, Cassandra Ong, a Senior HR manager at Savi Technology, understands the importance of Work-Life Integration. She candidly mentions that her interest in Work-Life Integration at Savi was first triggered by her personal challenges of balancing work and caring for her two children. It was then that she realized, “If I’m facing this problem, so will my colleagues.”

She felt that there was a need to introduce Work-Life practices as the organisation was then in acquisition period, with employees working longer hours and showing signs of wear out. With her past work experience in implementation of Work-Life initiatives, Ms. Ong was well-placed to roll out Work-Life practices that would allow employees to better manage their careers and personal lives.
As a key driver of Work-Life practices at Savi Technology, Ms. Ong has introduced several initiatives. Notably, Savi Technology has embarked on a detailed health and wellness programme to attain the Singapore HEALTH Award by the Health Promotion Board. They have rolled out sports and social activities including kickboxing, basketball, health and wellness workshops as well as a company-wide annual bowling championship that everyone can enjoy.
Ms. Ong firmly believes in reinforcing the Work-Life message through various communication channels, including an orientation session with new employees. Ms. Ong notes that Savi Technology thrives on a ‘Trust culture’, and that employees have the flexibility to manage their time between work and home; they are always reminded that they can go home early if they take early morning client calls before their usual work start time. |

She shares that even when employees choose to leave, they speak glowingly of the cohesion between colleagues and the healthy Work Life atmosphere at Savi.
Ms. Ong plans to explore tapping into the WoW! Fund to provide further Work-Life training for employees. Savi Technology also intends to find ways to incorporate a giving component to its social activities, to support charitable causes through sports activities such as walkathons.
Ultimately, Ms. Ong wants Savi Technology’s employees to feel comfortable in their work environment and enjoy coming to work.
