Mr. Adrian Wee, Director
F1 Recreation Private Limited

As a working father with young children, Adrian Wee, Director of F1 Recreation Private Limited, understands the value of effective Work-Life programmes. He shares, “When my daughter fell ill some time back and needed to be hospitalized, I had the opportunity to be by her side in hospital to keep her company while still being connected with all my staff.” He was able to ensure that operations ran smoothly, by keeping in touch with his employees through his Blackberry.

F1 Recreation recognizes that flexible working arrangements can be a tremendous help to employees who experience the combined pressure of work commitments and sudden family or personal obligations that need immediate attention.

Mr. Wee shares that F1 Recreation’s Work-Life consultant conducted surveys and interviews to understand the Work-Life climate of the organization and recommended a Work-Life strategy that “made it clear how a properly-implemented Work-Life initiative can help everyone who needs it.”

Mr. Wee acknowledges that “everyone has a different opinion about what work-life means”. In order to manage staff expectations, employees at F1 Recreation will undergo a Work-Life philosophy training programme to fully understand how Work-Life programmes will benefit them personally as well as meet organizational goals.

He believes that retaining good employees is even more effective for the business than recruiting new staff, as experienced employees provide a solid foundation for organizational growth. He shares that Work-Life initiatives are vital for talent retention. An effective Work-Life strategy provides an organization with a competitive edge that is hard to replicate elsewhere.

Mr. Wee senses that Work-Life Harmony is becoming more popular with Small and Medium Enterprises, “especially as all the Gen Y recruits seem to know so much about it”. He is encouraged by the government’s pro-Work-Life stance, and hopes government ministries will continue to offer grants and subsidies to make Work-Life harmony a reality for SMEs.

F1 Recreation Pte Ltd is a fitness equipment solution provider, the company has completed numerous turnkey projects for many fitness centers (eg ShangriLa Hotel, One Degree 15 Gym, True Fitness, Singapore Island Country Clubs… etc). Other services offered include management services, leasing of gym equipment and equipment repair and maintenance.
